The industry veteran will oversee legal, compliance, and policy strategy for Solana’s premier blockchain infrastructure developer

January 16, 2025 – Jito Labs, one of the teams supporting the development of the Jito ecosystem, today announced the appointment of Rebecca Rettig as its Chief Legal Officer, effective January 20, 2025. In her new role, Rettig will oversee all legal, compliance, and policy matters at Jito Labs as it scales its products and its work in the broader Jito and Solana ecosystems.

Rettig brings extensive experience navigating the complex global regulatory climate and joins from Polygon Labs, where she helped shape legal, policy, and regulatory strategy for one of the largest software developers building blockchain scaling solutions. Prior to her time at Polygon Labs, Rettig worked at the Aave Companies (now Avara) where she managed all legal matters and built global policy initiatives. At Jito Labs, Rebecca will be responsible for building the legal, compliance, and policy functions for Jito Labs both in the U.S. and abroad.

“I'm thrilled to join Jito Labs at this pivotal time," said Rettig. "The Jito infrastructure is foundational to DeFi on Solana, powering essential growth across the ecosystem. The Jito Labs team has already accomplished an enormous amount in a short period of time, and I look forward to working with this stellar team as it iterates and innovates on new, high-performing products."

Combining a decade of financial litigation experience at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP with pioneering legal work at several leading firms, including Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP, Rettig brings additional perspective from her roles in key industry bodies. Her work with the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) Virtual Currency Advisory Group and the CFTC's Global Markets Advisory Committee Digital Assets Subcommittee offers insight into evolving regulatory proceedings critical to Jito Labs’ continued development. Furthermore, her experience with decentralized governance as a board member of the dYdX Foundation and strategic advisor to FalconX further strengthens her ability to guide Jito ecosystem projects through the evolving DeFi landscape.

"Rebecca's experience in navigating the regulatory and compliance landscapes in the financial services and digital asset sectors makes her the ideal choice to guide our efforts in cementing Jito Labs as a best-in-class builder," said Lucas Bruder, Co-Founder and CEO of Jito Labs. "Her proven track record of combining efficient legal and policy functions with innovation in both areas will be invaluable as we continue to build essential infrastructure.”
